Green Bay Packers cornerback Zaire Alexander is getting paid despite playing just four games last season.

The former Lewisville standout has agreed to a four-year, $ 84 million extension that will keep him in Green Bay until 2026.

Alexander will also receive a $ 30 million signing bonus as part of that deal.

Although the annual break of his new contract has not yet been found, his annual average value makes him the cornerback of the highest salary in the league.

Pro football focus writer Ari Meyrov tweeted the top five cornerbacks on an annual basis.

Alexander’s $ 21 million edge Cleveland Browns defensive back Denzel Ward by about $ 900,000.

Ward signed a five-year, $ 100.5 million contract earlier this season.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Rams all-pro cornerback Jalen Rams is in third place with 20 million.

Marlon Humphrey of the Baltimore Ravens is at number four with 19.5 million.

Rounding up the list is New Orleans Saints’ Marson Latimore’s $ 19.4 million.

Javin Howard ($ 18 million), Trey Davis White ($ 17.25 million), Darius Slay ($ 16.6 million), Byron Jones ($ 16.5 million), and Jesse Jackson ($ 16.5 million) are in the top ten.

Last season, Alexander finished with nine single tackles, three pass defenses and one interception.

But when he is healthy he proves to be one of the best in his position.

The Packers building their defense

In 2020, Alexander had 51 tackles, 13 pass defenses, one sack, one interception and one forced fumble.

In addition to expanding Alexander, the Packers used the draft to strengthen their defenses.

They drafted both Quay Walker and Devonte Wyatt in the first round of the 2022 draft.

The pick they used at Walker was what they got from the Las Vegas riders at the Adams trade in Davante.

Walker and Watt will join a unit that includes linebackers D’Vandre Campbell, Rushan Gary and Preston Smith.

Meanwhile, Alexander will be the anchor of the secondary, lined up against Eric Stokes.
