Will the Red Sox ruin a strong season from Michael Wacha?

In this past MLB offseason, the Boston Red Sox have decided to roll the dice on veteran starting pitcher Michael Watcher.

Both sides agreed to a one-year deal, and at the time of signing, most Red Sox fans did not choose it as a very exciting move.

However, the terms of the deal indicate that the Red Sox Watch saw something that fans did not see.

Boston offered him a one-year contract worth 7 7 million, a staggering salary given the fact that he earned $ 3 million by posting some very small numbers in the 2021 season.

The Red Sox have had a disappointing season so far, but as things have turned out, Wacha is a bright spot.

He has largely exceeded the expectations of fans and looks wise at Boston’s 7 7 million investment.

The 30-year-old is currently on the shelf due to injury, but should return soon.

When he returns, he will be able to start the sixth year and is expected to return to where he left off before his IL career.

But here’s the big question: Will his season be ruined by the Red Sox?

Watch season at a glance

Wacha has made five starts in his season, and all of his outings so far have been impressive.

He started the year by tossing 4.1 innings off one run against the Detroit Tigers.

The Red Sox lost that game 3-1, but since then, they have won all of Wacha’s starts.

In his second outing, he made five tossless scores.

He has allowed just three runs in his next two starting 11 combined innings.

And in his most recent appearance, he has posted five shutout frames for the second time this season.

All in all, he got a small 1.38 ERA, 290 ERA +, 0.92 WHIP, and 1.4 bWAR.

Her FIP (3.93) indicates that luck has been on her side so far, but there is no denying that her results were impressive, especially since she had a 5.11 ERA from 2019 to 2021.

Will Boston take advantage of the year of the watcher?

The Red Sox have a 13-21 record on Monday.

This is the worst sign in the AL East, and the team is 12 games behind the first-placed New York Yankees.

There is still time for the Red Sox to turn everything around, but there is no doubt that it has been a disastrous season for them so far.

Remember, Boston scored 92-70 last season and earned a trip to the ALCS.

For that reason, there was high expectation to go to the club this year.

The Red Sox are at a lower risk of gaining in a big way.

The good news is that they split a two-game set with the Atlanta Braves and followed that with a series win against the Texas Rangers, so they’re definitely showing signs of life lately.

But they have to keep it up, and the little win-win trend will probably work wonders for them.

Only time will tell if the return of the Watch helps to pump some life into the Red Sox.

They can certainly use it.
