In the NFL offseason, the Atlanta Falcons are ahead of experienced quarterback Matt Ryan.

After 14 seasons with the team, they sent quarterbacks to the Indianapolis Colts on a trade deal.

The quarterback who once led the team to the Super Bowl was sent to another team.

But why would the Falcons go ahead with their star quarterback?

Things got worse with Ryan and Atlanta after a failed attempt to get Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson Sweepstakes has seen several NFL teams try to trade for young quarterbacks.

The Falcons were one of the parties that wanted to acquire him.

However, they failed to convince Watson to join the Atlanta list.

That failure has caused problems with their current starter in Atlanta.

Ryan still believes he is an early caliber quarterback.

That’s why he’s in Indianapolis with a team that needs a starter with proven success.

Now the Falcons are stuck with Marcus Mariota, the former starting quarterback of the Tennessee Titans.

But was it wise to follow Watson and move on from Ryan before his contract expires?

The Falcons probably wanted a quarterback younger than Ryan

One thing NFL teams understand is how players can’t play forever.

Not every quarterback is Tom Brady, the NFL’s current Iron Man.

With that in mind, the Falcons may like Watson because he is both young and a playoff-experienced quarterback.

Any team will want a combination of youth and experience.

However, getting over Ryan before he is ready to leave may not be the best decision in the background.

They now have a team that has no weapons.

Their quarterback average and their best receiver have been suspended for a year.

With Ridley out for the season, the Falcons are in real trouble for 2022.

Are the Falcons looking for the first overall pick in 2023?

The 2022 NFL season could have positive news for Atlanta.

If the team has a terrific season in 2022, they could get a lucrative first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

That draft will have some of the best college quarterbacks to choose from in Atlanta

However, is it worth having a lost season to get a new quarterback?

With the Falcons franchise, this is an easy question to answer.

They have no objection to losing to get the best quarterback in the NFL Draft.

This will replace them in the 2022 offseason.

Rookie quarterback will take time to develop.

Also, the player they draft could be an NFL bust, which they can’t carry.

However, looking at the history of the NFL Draft, it happens in many quarterbacks.

From Johnny Manziel to Ryan Leaf, there are plenty of quarterbacks from the NFL Draft that were busty.

However, some of the problems with quarterback busts in the NFL are coaches working with them.

Poor coaching can lead rookie players to failure.

With the coaching staff in Atlanta, any potential rookie quarterback could face that nightmare with the Falcons.
