It is safe to say that Joey Gallo had a bad start to the 2022 season.

Through his first 16 games of the season, Gallo had a .146 / .255 / .167 slash line where there were no home runs, only one RBI, and a weak .421 OPS.

He was striking out like anyone else’s business and provided no spark for the lineup of the powerful New York Yankees.

But boy, things can change, that’s for sure.

Since then, he seems to have returned to his old ways and is hitting like everyone else in the league that he knows.

A statistics page of the Yankees tweeted comparing Gallo’s number through the first 16 games and his number in the last 15 games.

In these last 15 games, he has a .268 / .388 / .634 slash line with five homers, six RBIs and a 1.022 OPS.

Gallo turned it on

Looks like Gallo is back.

The Yankees thought they were getting it when they acquired him from the Texas Rangers in last season’s trade deadline.

Gallo can kill.

That’s all.

Now, he seems to have put his initial struggles behind him and is clicking at the right time

There is no time like the present to turn it on, especially after such a rough start.

Gallo looked like a shell of what he once was, but now, he’s back as a player we’re all used to seeing.

With people like Gallo, when and if it wasn’t, it was another matter.

Sometimes, the boys start slowly, but Gallo chooses the right time to turn it around and show everyone what he really is capable of: hitting home runs and coming through the clutch.

He was a key to the Yankees’ red-hot start and will continue to do so if he stays warm.
