Jason Kidd has spent one season as the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks.

If history gives any indication, that season is almost over.

His team is now trailing 3-0 against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Final.

No team has ever come back from such a deficit and it goes without saying that Dallas is on the ropes and almost out of the playoffs.

In fact, the kid seems to know that based on the way he talked about the team after the game.

“This is just the beginning of our journey,” Kidd told the press after another loss. It’s cool to go through this. This is not the end, this is just the beginning. “

These are kind, hopeful words – but they certainly don’t sound like the words of someone who thinks things can go awry.

Better luck next year

The Mavericks have certainly done better than expected this year.

When Kidd arrived, he had a lot to do and a lot to tweet about and was perfect for Dallas.

Sure, he did a lot and the squad finished the season in fourth place west.

He helped Luka Donsick become a better player, he picked up a lot of supporting stars, and he turned their weak maintenance around.

All in all the whole team should be proud of their progress.

Still, much remains to be done.

The team still relies heavily on Donetsk and he doesn’t get enough help when he needs it.

There are a lot of fans who think Mavericks is really great and just one or two pieces away from getting ready for the finals.

This may be a good start for the Mavs but it is a good start.
