Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back and current CBS Sports Analyst Bryant McFadden The NFC North is going against the grain to predict the 2022 winner.
Most pundits believe the Green Bay Packers will win the division for the fourth year in a row, but two-time Super Bowl winner McFadden predicts the Minnesota Vikings.
McFadden explained the Vikings selection as the winner of NFC North CBS Sports HeadquartersA YouTube channel said, “I think when you look at the roster, when you look at the schemes on both sides of football – the experience in the original position – it’s a team that is nicely set up to get at least 10 wins.”
McFadden hosts a podcast with current Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson, so he may be directly or indirectly influenced by Peterson’s presence on the show.
McFadden has played seven seasons in the NFL, including six in Pittsburgh and one in Arizona. Although he and Peterson hosted a podcast together, the men were not Cardinal’s teammates. A 2005 2nd-round draft pick, the McFadden Steelers were part of the team that won the Super Bowl XL and XLIII.
McFadden’s announcement comes at a time when NFL body politics is slowly warming up the Vikings as a slipper playoff pick. Before the 2022 NFL draft – and even a few days later – Minnesota was ranked as the 21st best team in the NFL by a popular power-ranking entity.
Over the past two weeks, though, a litany of unexpected Vikings approvals has hit the digital stratosphere. Bet analyst Joe Osborne Named Minnesota as a team to see a division title.
CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora has nominated the Vikings to win the NFC North, otherwise a new feeling for the Packers-dominated field. ESPN’s Football Power Ranking Index ranked the Vikings as the 13th best team in the league by number. Packers enthusiast and NFL.com analyst Cynthia Freeland has named the Minnesota offense as the top 10 clothing. Kevin Seffert from ESPN predicted that the Vikings would make the 2022 playoffs. And Dan Orlovsky ESPN has also announced the Vikings as a play-off team.
So, just two weeks before the Vikings’ compulsory minicamp, McFadden dropped his hat in the ring in support of the growing trend.
