Do you think the price of footy beer is higher? It has nothing on a foam

The price of beer, not gas, has excited golf fans and surprised players at the US PGA Championships in Oklahoma.

With a can of $ 18 (26 A26) dollars, world number one Justin Thomas wondered if it could cure cancer at this price.

A gallon of gas in Tulsa costs about ড 4, but for most Southern Hills Country Club fans it won’t be as expensive as buying a round of beer or even water that goes for 6.

Skyrocketing prices have even attracted the attention of millionaire golfers.

Thomas, who has a career income of more than $ 47 million ($ A67m), took to social media to express his condolences.

“$ 18 for a Freakin beer ??????” Thomas posted on Instagram.

“Does it cure cancer or something else !! ????”

Beer may not cure cancer but at current prices it can cure hangovers, only viewers with deep pockets are able to enjoy the extra.

Costs must be reduced in the 19th hole.

A 24-ounce can certainly go for $ 18, or the equivalent of an 18-pack at the local Tulsa grocery store. At US 19 19, fans can upgrade to a premium brand

Explaining his post to reporters, Thomas said, “I just saw it and I was surprised.”

“It’s just a bummer. You want people to come to the tournament. If I’m on the fence and I look at the discount stand, it’s not the biggest thing.

“I was surprised because I had never seen a beer in my life (the price could be) $ 18 or $ 19.”

Even fun-loving Australians, known for their fondness for pints, were stunned. Cameron Smith said he doubted he would line up at the discount stand.

“If I had to buy a scream of beer… I probably wouldn’t pay 20 20 personally for a beer,” thought Smith, winner of the Players’ Championship and about $ 7 million this season.

If Thomas and Smith are surprised by the price tag, they haven’t been to the recent Super Bowl or Lady Gaga concerts where alcoholic beverages regularly go into high double-digits.

The US PGA defended the price, saying it was consistent with those other events.

Ground tickets for the practice round from Monday to Wednesday cost $ 25 to $ 45. Prices for Thursday’s opening round jumped to 19 US195 (27 A277) but include food and non-alcoholic beverages from the Concession Stand.

That certainly doesn’t include beer.

“We have a new ticket price offer for all visitors this year, which includes as much food and non-alcoholic beverages as they want to include in the price,” explained Kerry High, PGA, Chief Championship Officer for the United States.

“Product prices are comparable to stadium events.”

Brooks Koepka, winner of the 2018 and 2019 PGA Championships, had no major problems with a more practical approach to pricing.

“I mean, it’s usually 12 ounces, bigger than 16 ounces,” Koepka said.

“You drink enough, you’ll be fine.”
