Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is a man who knows how to press the right buttons and make the right decisions at crucial moments in the game.
He’s still a relatively young manager, but he’s blessed with a roster that’s as deep as any baseball team.
So it’s no surprise when a manager like Roberts, who has a deep and talented list, has a plan for his players, especially for his veterans.
Dodgers insider Fabian Ardaya responded to a tweet from the Los Angeles Times’ Jack Harris announcing some game changes for the team, which Roberts planned to give some experienced star some rest during this current game.
Dave Roberts said he was looking for a chance to get Trea Turner and Freddie Freeman off their feet for a few innings whenever he could during this extended home stand. https://t.co/H0S2vwn8Kt

Experiment with depth
When you have a list as deep and talented as the Dodgers, you can spend a holiday and get some rest from some of your stars.
The Dodgers are a team that has some tough bench players that can start from many other teams in Major League Baseball, so you need to get some of their representatives at a certain time, as well as rest some of your stars.
The Dodgers will need their stars to run the stretch towards the end of the season, so there comes a point where they have to take a break and give them a chance to do some damage to some of their reserves and show what they are up to.
Depth is important in any ball club, and every good team has a lot of depth in their list.
You never know when that depth will be tested, so Roberts is taking the right steps by giving some of his stars a little break.
