Prior to the acquisition of men like Za’Darius Smith, Harrison Phillips and Jordan Hicks at the Minnesota Vikings Free Agency, the most intelligent candidates to join the team in March were players associated with Minnesota’s new coaching staff.

One of those players was Kyle Fuller. As a Vikings free-agent prospect, he never really found entertainment and now finds new life with the Baltimore Ravens.

Fuller, 30, has joined his third NFL franchise, having previously spent time with the Chicago Bears and the Denver Broncos. In Chicago, Fuller was occasionally skilled, earning first-team All-Pro accolades in 2018 and back-to-back Pro Bowl trips in 2018 and 2019.

Since then, however, Fuller has experienced an indescribable performance decline, down from 47.2 in 2021. Pro football focus.

He will be seen rebounding with the Ravens, a team that surprisingly missed the play-offs in 2021. Quietly, Lamar Jackson has shown a lower year in terms of its value, ranking [around] 21st-best passer in 2021. In terms of numbers, Jackson’s performances were badfellows with Tuya Tagovillo and Teddy Bridgewater. Jackson played a great game in 2021 – against the Indianapolis Colts – but that was his best composition. Compared to his MVP Credo, he has struggled.

Fuller was initially spotted as a Vikings free-agent target for two reasons:

  1. The Vikings, back in March, were incredibly restless in the CB room.
  2. Fuller has played five seasons under Ed Donatel.

In the end, however, Minnesota added Chandon Sullivan, Andrew Booth (Rookie), Aquileb Evans (Rookie) and re-signed Patrick Peterson for secondary, so Fuller’s “Miss Out” was not detrimental.

Bryce Callahan and Kyle Fuller

Bryce Callahan, another Donatel-affiliated defender, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in May. Like Fuller, Callahan was associated with the Vikings Free Agency because of the Donatel connection.

Fuller joins a Ravens team desperate for a pass-defense revival. In 2021, Baltimore got the last rank for passing yard (278.9 per game) in the NFL.

The Ravens have already hired Marcus Peters and Marlon Humphrey, so Fuller would be a CB4 or CB5 if he made the 53-man list in September.
